Chesapeake Music Guide review by Michael Macey

Dig It Up from Rob Thorworth is a rock0solid effort that makes for a very satisfying listen. With a variety of songwriting styles that include rock, blues and pop, Thorworth approaches each one with equal aplomb and delivers it all with a nice textured sound that has broad appeal written all over it. What I liked about Dig It Up was the fact that while the album has a very commercial sound; it's not a slickly produced affair and there's diversity to the songwriting that keeps the whole thing fresh from song to song.

Rob Thorworth Digs Deep

by Pat Christopher, On Tap Magazine

Local singer-songwriter Rob Thorworth's first solo release, "Dig it Up," packs such a punch that you may think you're listening to an industry veteran who had top engineers, producers and technicians at his disposal. The fact is, this disc is masterfully produced, and Thorworth did it himself. "Dig it Up" has a "ready for radio" quality about it, with enough variety and raw emotion to satisfy nearly any listener.

"Dig it Up" certainly proves that Thorworth's plan worked; He delivers a complex selection of songs that show off his seasoned guitar work and soulful, throaty vocals (think Lyle Lovett meets Don Henley). The disc, set for an early December release offers up a tight mix of blues-tinged ballads and powerful rock and roll.

Life Is Suffering

Thorworth retains the pop songwriter's songs-first credo, and understanding that catchy melodies and good hooks sell a song faster than any misdirected attempt to sell blues authenticity by packaging piss-poor songs with gritty vocals and whiz-bang guitar pyro. With Thorworth, the feeling is on target; the songs right there and accessible.

Life Is Suffering

by Robert T. Murphy

Rob Thorworth, who hails from Birmingham Alabama, is a veteran of the road. His previous band Gravy, a rockin blues band, played to packed houses all over the southeast United States and sold thousands of their excellent debut CD "Gravy - From The Hip". When Rob attempted to license the name to his successful band, it was discovered that another band owned the name and he was unable to secure the rights to the name. Rob, with drummer Chris Fryar then formed the current band with jazz influenced bass player Christian Grizzard to form the current Rob Thorworth Band.

"Thorworth's voice is decidedly different from that of the late blues player (Stevie Ray Vaughan) bearing a close resemblence to Ten era Eddie Vedder . . . (Thorworth) rolls with a blues swaggar that finds its groove and doesn't let go."

—Orlando Weekly

"Guitarist/vocalist Rob Thorworth's fingerwork is agile and smooth, and he knows enough to play the spaces.."
